Attacking Hockey Drill for Junior Players

This video by Field Hockey Education presents a drill for juniors, aged approximately 6-11 years old, which can be adapted and made more challenging for older players. The main focus of the drill is on passing and receiving, progressing to a 2v1 situation against the goalkeeper.

The drill starts with player one passing the ball to player two, who needs to open and receive before passing it to player three. Player one then makes a lead into the middle, as player three receives the ball and becomes an extra attacker for the 2v1 situation against the goalkeeper.

If the players are doing well, a defender can be added, turning it into a 3v2 scenario. The drill aims to teach players how to receive the ball, pass, and create 2v1 opportunities in a game.
It can be done in a small area with just a few players, making it easy to rotate and ensuring everyone stays engaged.

Before starting the drill, coaches can teach players how to open and receive the ball to help them get used to the technique.
