GK ground stick clearing: a small drill that will help you to get better stick handling when “sweeping” the ball

This drill will help goalkeepers learn to handle the ground stick clearing when it is necessary for goalies to make “sweep” saves. This skill needs to be addressed because sometimes, the game forces goalies to make this type of saves and they need to react without forcing a penalty corner or stroke.

First the coach needs to stand in front of the goalie with one ball on each hand:

When the ball is released and it hits the ground, the goalie needs to go for it and make a stick clear:
