20 years ago she was told that she would never make it to the Olympics but now, she will be in Rio 2016!

(Original Source: www.hockeywa.org.au) Melissa Trivic was told that she would never make it to the Olympics as a player. She was 17 years old and in a heart to heart conversation with her coach by then, she was told that it she didn’t have the necessary skills to make it up to that level. However, he told her that she had good conditions to make it as an umpire. This was hard for her to assimilate however she was realistic and worked hard to make it to the top level. This goal will become true as she will be at Rio 2016 as one of the international umpires.

“20 years ago I said ‘I’m going to go to the Olympics’. When I got that advice from my coach I thought ‘I can do this, I’m going to make it all the way’. I just love hockey so it evolved, not as a player but as an official to be able to help the players do what they do.” From A Hockey World, we would like to say congratulations and good luck to Melissa Trivic!
