USA’s field hockey star, Katie O’Donnell, is a key player in the formation that has pushed American hockey to the top level:
1. How long have you been playing hockey?
I started messing around with my first stick when I was three because my sisters played. I got into organized playing when I was about 7 in my town’s local recreation league.
2. Where are you currently playing?
Now I just compete with the USA team in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately we don’t have adult leagues in America like they do in other countries, so we train year round together.
3. Usually in USA, a player’s career ends after college, how did you manage to continue playing?
The senior team is the only reason I am still able to play! If I wasn’t on the senior team, who knows where I would be living and what I would be doing with my life! Without an adult league most people hang up their jerseys after college. I hope that changed in the near future, but for now I will continue on the team until I can’t continue any longer!
