Taking advantage of the defender’s exposed feet and wrong tackling position

This video by Field Hockey Canada shows how well an attacker can take advantage of the defender’s bad feet coverage which either risks giving the opponent a penalty corner or, in this case, allows the attacker to win the 1v1.

In the first part of the drill the defenders pushes the attacker to an open angle of shot by keeping her line without allowing any offensive cuts however, the problem happens when the attacker runs out of space and needs to create something.

As you can see in the pictures, the defender did not do a great job in protecting her exposed feet and did not keep a proper distance in order to do the correct tackle. She was very high with her body and her stick was not in the right position, which allowed the attacker to win.
