The oddest way of defending a penalty corner! And yet, it worked!

This might be the most ridiculous, and yet effective somehow, way to defend the penalty corner. When the ball was pushed in by the attacking team, the 4 field players of the defence decided to run out, around and stay behind the goal. They left the goalkeeper on his own!

This play took place during a match for the Founders Cup 2017, between the teams of Western Heights High School and Taupo Nui A Tia College. It was shared by Rotorua Hockey.

The goalie was able to make the initial save and this made the 4 defenders to jump back into the field. One of them even made a very impressive save on the line. Somehow, the attacking team was still unable to score…
