Field Hockey Canada: lip syncing and skills of the Junior female team!

We love to share videos where the hockey teams display how happy our sport can be and how amazing is to be part of a group of teammates and friends. The junior women’s team of Field Hockey Canada decided to record this fun video singing to Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R”. 

Field Hockey Canada is the national field hockey association of Canada that has been in charge of the men’s and women’s hockey programs. The female team made their world cup debut at the 1978 Women’s Hockey World Cup in Madrid, Spain, where the finished in the 5th position. Their best result was at the 1983 Women’s World Cup where Field Hockey Canada finished as runner-up while the earned the bronze medal at the 1986 Women’s Hockey World Cup. Field Hockey Canada has participated in women’s competitions since 1956.

In Canada, field hockey is played during the spring, summer and early autumn however, in the region of British Columbia, hockey is played all year long. Although it is considered a female sport in schools, both men and women play in adult leagues. 

Historically, field hockey in Canada was in born inBritish Columbia but soon after the World War II, there was a big wave of immigration that brought new players from the different countries of the Commonwealth of Nations which helped to establish the sport all across the country.

In the beginning there were two different association, one for the men (1961) and one for women (1962). Finally, in 1992, both association merged forming Field Hockey Canada.

Most recently, the women’s team of Field Hockey Canada was able to finish with the bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American Games but have not participated in a World Cup since 1992. The men’s team however, has secured their spot at the 2016 Olympic Games after finishing in the 8th place at the 2014-15 FIH Hockey World League.
